Pittenweem Priory Study Day
Pittenweem Priory Study Day
Join the tour and walk of Pittenweem Priory with local historian, Tony Lodge.
Venue: Pittenweem Priory
Time: 11am
Cost: £20 includes donation to the Gatehouse project
Pittenweem’s Augustinian Priory moved here from the Isle of May in the 13th century and was substantially rebuilt in the 15th century. Its church is partly incorporated into the present parish church, and substantial remains survive around a quadrangle east of Cove Wynd. To the east is the C15 Gatehouse; to the south the C16-17 Prior’s Lodging; and to the west the Great House, originally the dormitory and refrectory. Our visit will start with a tour of the Gatehouse, which is in process of fund raising for major restoration, and hopefully the Great House and other buildings in the vicinity (local arrangements depending).
Bring a picnic or try a fish supper at the harbour.
