David Devereux will give a talk in October entitled: ‘A tale of two Tongland ruins.’

The former Curator of Kirkcudbright Museum, will give an account of recent archaeological and historical research on Tongland Abbey (founded 1218) and the Tongland Fish House (probably built c .1825). The Abbey also operated a fishery at the Doachs of Tongland, so the exploitation of this important local economic resource might be seen as a common link between the two sites, despite the time gap.
Refreshments will be available.
