Tour of the SSC and Signet Libraries, Parliament Square

Neil Mackenzie KC, Keeper of the Advocates Library, begins the tour by welcoming us to the SSC Library, designed by James B Dunn in 1888. James Hamilton, Research Principal of the WS Society, then takes us on a tour of the Signet Library, designed in 1810 by Robert Reid with outstanding Neo-classical interiors – among the finest in the country – by William Stark, and later work by William Henry Playfair and William Burn. Note, there are lots of stairs and no lift.
