This talk explores the ecclesiastical work of Dr Reginald Fairlie (1883-1952), one of the last figures in the historicist tradition in Scotland and remembered today as architect of the National Library of Scotland. Fairlie’s churches were characterised by simplicity and fine craftsmanship, rooted in his deep love of Scotland’s history, landscape, and religious traditions, particularly in the liturgy and customs of his own Catholic faith.
