AHSS endorses SCT Manifesto

As a longstanding advocate for the preservation and celebration of Scotland’s rich architectural heritage, we wholeheartedly support the SCT’s call to action for both the UK and Scottish governments.

The SCT’s manifesto highlights two critical issues that align perfectly with our mission: the abolition of the 20% VAT rate on maintaining and repairing historic buildings, and the introduction of a presumption against the demolition of historic structures. These measures are essential for safeguarding our built heritage, fostering community pride, and contributing to Scotland’s sustainability goals.

We urge our members and all those who value Scotland’s architectural legacy to rally behind these proposals. By doing so, we can ensure that our historic buildings continue to enrich our communities and stand as testaments to our cultural identity for generations to come.
