Royal High School Fundraising Concert

Support the Royal High School Preservation Trust and enjoy performances by talented
music students!

Venue: Canongate Kirk, 153 Canongate, Edinburgh EH8 8BN
Time: 15:00
Cost: £10 (Purchase tickets through Music in Blair Atholl)

This performance at Canongate Kirk by students from the Yehudi Menuhin School is to raise funds to put towards legal costs incurred in the fight to save Edinburgh’s Royal High School from development into a luxury hotel. The concert is also being held in support of the competing proposal to move St. Mary’s Music School into the Royal High School.

The Menuhin School was founded by Yehudi Menuhin in 1963 for young musicians of outstanding talent from all over the world. Among its alumni are violinists Nigel Kennedy and Nicola Benedetti, who came to Strathgarry as a child. The School is very keen to give its support to St Mary’s.

The students will come to Canongate as a group of four pianists, one cellist, one violinist and one guitarist accompanied by their Director of Music, newly appointed Oscar Colomina, their Headmistress Kate Clanchy and their Professor of Piano, Ruth Nye. Afterwards they will travel north to stay with Lavinia and Andrew Gordon at Lude, Blair Atholl, for the concerts to be held at Blair Castle on the 5th and 6th of May.

You can learn more on the Music in Blair Atholl website.

This event is not organised by the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland.
